Fashioned of old, a sublimely lovely antique Emerald ring dating to the latter 19th century and in the Arts & Crafts style centring around a pale green Emerald gem. Circa 1900, the design is entirely hand crafted and imagined and as such is fascinating and very special.

The Arts and Crafts style was a countermovement to the Industrial Revolution that focused on the notion of artisanal craftsmanship, and original pieces of jewellery of this quality are a scarce find.

'Beginning in the 1860s Morris, Ruskin, and their followers advocated the return to skilled craftsmanship and an over-arching aesthetic influenced by traditional styles such as the Gothic. Morris’s interior design firm became famous for its wallpapers, textiles and stained glass.'

The naturalistic design incorporates leaves to the shoulders and Grape like beadings and tendrils around the circular face, all fashioned in 18ct yellow Gold which has the luvliest patina, adding a softness to the whole... we imagine this ring would have been very at home upon the hand of May Morris!

The ring size is a 'Q' or '8' and we're unable to alter due to the design continuing around the band.
